The St. Bernadette School Tuition Contract requires service hours from each family. The strength of our school community relies heavily on the support and involvement of all the families that the school serves. Each family of St. Bernadette School should be involved in at least one of the many volunteer opportunities that serve our students. Every child benefits from the commitment, interest  and assistance given by involved parents and guardians.

 

 

Family Service Program Fees

 

Parents are required to contribute 25 hours of service to support school-related activities. Those parents not able to contribute their time will pay a fee of $250 or a pro-rated portion thereof for service hours not provided. All service hours should be completed by May 15th. Parish related activities and ministries, such as singing in the choir, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Sodality, Holy Name, babysitting during Mass, etc. are not included towards the school related activities.

 

The Family Service Program does include 2 two-hour sessions of lunch/playground duty.  Parents who choose not to fulfill their playground duties must opt out by August 1 and will be assessed a fee of $75.00.

 

In accordance with the Archdiocese of Washington Child Protection Policy, all school volunteers who have substantial contact with children must submit to a Criminal Background check (including fingerprinting) and attend a training session. This includes, but is not limited to, chaperoning field trips, school functions, classroom assistance, and lunch/playground duty.
