Events for the Fall 2008 Season
OCTOBER
Becca’s Run
Look for more information in next week’s BUZZ about this 5K race in honor of Rebecca Lilly, a former St. Bernadette student and parishioner. Signs are up throughout Woodmoor or you can go to www.beccasrun.org and read more about this event scheduled on Saturday, October 4 at St. Bernadette field. Many St. Bernadette families come out to support the Lilly family and the research this event supports. Start running!
Fall Festival
The parish’s annual Fall Festival will take place on Sunday, October 5 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm on the school field. This year we are opening the field to small business vendors who would like to display their wares or services at the event. Eighth grade confirmation students may count up to two hours of volunteer time (not including the Snack Shack) toward their service hours.
Be sure to come and bring the family as this is one of the most enjoyed events by the kids and adults all year. This year we are featuring: a Bake Sale, a Cake Walk, BINGO, Country Store (pumpkins and mums), Arts activities for the kids like pumpkin painting, etc., a Vendor tent full of business and craft-type offerings, a Moon-Bounce for the small kids, a Moon-Bounce for larger kids, a large Inflatable Slide (with double lanes), a Dunk Tank – full of parish people you will love to DUNK, the Snack Shack with its regular excellent fare and Barbecue sandwiches, Soda, Water, and Snow Cone stands. There will also be a table to have your keepsake photo taken.
Be sure to come and play, eat, meet your fellow parishioners – and dunk someone! If you want to volunteer your time, talents or prize donations, please contact Jerry McNamara at Jerry.McNamara@verizon.net.
Ice Skating at Wheaton
Come ice skating with your family and friends on Friday, October 17th, from 12:30pm-2:30pm, at Wheaton Ice Arena. St. B's has a 12:15pm dismissal that day. Anyone who mentions that they are from St. Bernadette's will receive the special admission price of $6.25, which includes ice skate rentals. And St. Bernadette's HSA will get back 15% of all the St. B admissions. There will also be a lunch special offered that day. More information will follow soon in your Thursday folder. For information on this event, please contact Karen Warnick at kawarnick@gmail.com.
